On April 27, 2024, Stormgears presented at the annual Girl Scouts Stem Fest and it was a huge success!
All volunteers from Stormgears: Claire Gao, Nandana Nair, Simra Ali, Ishaan Jagali, Meher Pillai, Harsheta Krishnakumar, Advit Mehta, Deepi Veda, Feng Gao, Sadaf Shams, Manjo Kumar, and Ganesan Vedavinayagma.
8 Stormgears students spread STEAM and our team’s Outreach message to around 300 girl scouts. Girl Scouts from K to 10 visited our station to interact with our robot, do our fun activities, and learn more about our team. We hosted a variety of exciting activities, including operating our latest robot, making robotic hands using paper, straws and threads, making bristle bots, and making spaghetti marshmallow structures! All of our activities were very popular, however our greatest success was driving our robot. Kids found the robot really cool and loved interacting with it. We set up a game where shooting a note into a tote and onto a plushie was worth points and scouts would try to score as many points as possible. Scouts were lining up to have a turn driving the robot!
Overall, this event was a major triumph for Stormgears outreach! We look forward to impacting more young minds next time!
